Dr.Hauschka Skin Care & the Berlin University of the Arts

In 2010 Dr.Hauschka Skin Care sponsored the semester project “Green Carpet” organised by students of the Institute for Experimental Clothing and Textile Design at the University of the Arts in Berlin. The idea behind the project: As one-offs, the “Red Carpet” gowns of celebrities are uniquely predestined for sustainable manufacture. However, until now the stars have not exploited the attention they receive to highlight the immense importance of ecological and social responsibility in the production of fashion. Is this perhaps because there are no feasible solutions that could satisfy the image-related requirements of the celebrities? This was the question that the students pursued, both in theory and in practice, and have answered with viable alternatives connecting traditional dress codes with sustainable production methods.

At the “schau10” show on 9 July 2010 the new generation of creative fashion designers presented the results of their semester project during the Berlin Fashion Week. A jury presented awards for the best designs. As the main sponsor of the semester project “Green Carpet”, Dr.Hauschka Skin Care was not only represented on the jury but also awarded a prize – the “Dr.Hauschka Sponsorship Award for Sustainable Fashion” – worth 1000 euros. Dr.Hauschka sponsored the semester project itself with a further 4000 euros intended to cover the cost of materials for the students, for example.
