Dr.Hauschka Skin Care since 1967

„Since receiving your letter I love you.“

It could be the beginning of a romance. Instead Dr. Rudolf Hauschka’s declaration to Elisabeth Sigmund marked the start of Dr.Hauschka Skin Care. The year was 1962. The Viennese chemist Dr. Rudolf Hauschka had established the WALA company in 1935 to manufacture anthroposophical medicines and dietary juice remedies using a completely new rhythmic process. Now he desired to extend the range to include special skin care products that would fit in with the company’s concepts. He wrote to the cosmetologist Elisabeth Sigmund, originally also from Vienna. Her reply containing original ideas for new approaches to skin care aroused such enthusiasm in Rudolf Hauschka that he invited her to Eckwälden.

Original ideas for a special form of skin care

Elisabeth Sigmund did not hesitate long: shortly afterwards she packed her bags and left her home in Stockholm for Eckwälden. A colourful mix of people – pharmacists, chemists, anthroposophical physicians and cosmetologist Elisabeth Sigmund – came together in a phase of intense productivity to develop the new ‘WALA’ skin care products.

In 1967 their time had arrived: The basic range appeared on the market. The collection they unveiled included Rose Day Cream, Cleansing Cream and Facial Toner. For our jubilee year we present the modern formulations of these classics in their original packaging.
