Rudolf Hauschka
Dr. Rudolf Hauschka (born on 6 November 1891 in Vienna, died on 28 December 1969 in Bad Boll/Eckwälden) began his life and career in quite an ordinary manner for the time. He attended a technical high school in Vienna, studied chemistry and medicine in Vienna and Munich from 1908 to 1913 and finally, after a year as scientific assistant at the universities of Vienna and Munich, obtained his doctorate. During the First World War from 1914 to 1918 he served as first lieutenant in the Austrian army. After the war he found a position as head chemist and director in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry in Vienna where he continued to work until 1925. In 1924, always interested in fundamental questions, he asked a question which had profound consequences for his further life.
